How to check your 2026 rateable value, free, on GOV.UK
This takes about five minutes and costs nothing. Do this before you talk to anyone selling rates help.
Use GOV.UK’s own Find a Business Rates Valuation service in England, or gov.wales’ equivalent in Wales, to look up your rateable value (RV) for free. You’ll need your postcode or account reference.

- How to register to "Check" the facts used, which is the first free stage before any formal challenge
England recorded 13,710 checks against the 2026 rating list by 30 June 2026, against 127,880 checks in January-March 2026 as ratepayers rushed to close out the old 2023 list (HMRC official statistics, 'Non-domestic rating: challenges and changes', June 2026).
